Mini Haul!

Yes, I went shopping....
In my defence there was a sale in RiverIsland and I had a voucher + it was 3 for 2 in boots...
I bought four things.

This is a red geometric print skater skirt (according to the website).  I picked this up because I thought it would be nice to wear now with thick tights or legging, but also it will look nice in the summer!  RiverIsland have tons of skirts on sale in this style! I would go and have a look if I were you.
This skirt is on sale on the website for £10 at the moment! ( I got it in store for £10 too!) They only have size 16 and 18 left at the moment.  Sorry if it's gone, but here is the link = red geometric print skater skirt

Then I went to boots.

I really wanted a foundation brush.  I have an ecotools foundation brush, but when that gets really dirty I want to switch brushes. ( Realtechniques are supposed to be the best around - we'll see!).  So I bought a stippling brush. I've saw Tanya Burr use this for her foundation, so it's her fault that I bought it...  I liked the way her foundation looked on her after she used this brush.

I thought, I might as well try another brush because it's 3 for 2 at Boots so I picked up the Realtechniques powder brush.  I've been using sponges for my powder foundation for years, now is the time to use a proper brush!  I have to admit, when I got home I opened the brushes straight away and they are really soft. (Yes, I'm strange.)

So, I had what I wanted, but oh dear, I have to pick up my "free" item or the 3 for 2 offer wouldn't work.  I'm so disappointed... HAHA! It was an excuse for me to buy a coral nail polish and coral is on trend this season.  I picked up Essie's Cute as a Button. It's a pinky coral and I'm very excited to try it. Nail of the Day coming soon.

Have you bought anything in the sales?

P.S, I'm on the hunt for a coral handbag.  Found one in outfit but it was £45, I do love it, but that's too expensive. Any suggestions?

REVIEW: Maybelline's The Rocket Mascara

Today I'm reviewing a very popular product - The Rocket Mascara by Maybelline!
This Mascara has the biggest wand I've ever seen ( don't laugh! ) and it's made of plastic.  You can really get the little hairs by using this mascara.

Benefits of this Mascara:
  1. Volume
  2. Thickening
  3. Affordable
  4.
BUT I do have a problem with this mascara.  I don't know whether it's me or eye makeup remover I'm currently using, but it's a nightmare to take off and this is not the waterproof version!
I have used two different eye makeup removers on it and it's a pain to get off.

For that reason I probably wouldn't buy this mascara again because it hurts my eyes when I try to take it off.  This is such a shame because it looks lovely on the eyelashes :(

Currently £7.99 in Boots and I think it's 3 for 2 at the moment if you want to try it!

Affordable Make-up Storage

I find it difficult to keep my make-up tidy.  I'm a student and I can't afford a huge vanity dedicated to make-up and I don't have enough make-up to fill one (I'd like to!).

So, I'm still not happy about the way I keep my face products and eyeshadows, but I think I've found a good way to keep my brushes, lip products and eyeliners.
I keep my lip products and mascara in this jar.  I can see what's inside and my products are standing up which is great! I found this jar at a pound shop for about £2, but I'm sure you can get these jars in supermarkets!
I know storage must be practical, but who said it has to be dull.  You can buy any tea light/candle holder of your choice.  I chose this one. It's from Vinegar Hill. It was about £4 in the shop, but I'm not sure if you can get this online.
I keep my brushes in this mug.  This mug is absolutely HUGE and so pretty. I bought this mug in TKMaxx for £4.99. Any pretty mug will do, but I suggest if you want a pretty mug that's a bit different I would go to TKMaxx ( with a good home department), HomeSense, Dunelm Mill or something similar!

I hope this has given you some inspiration to do some spring cleaning!

Clinique 3 Step Skincare System

I have normal skin but my nose is really dry.  I've tried so many moisturisers and I'm always on the hunt for the moisturiser and I think I have found it....

I went to try this kit in Boots. There's a cleanser, toner and a moisturiser in this kit and they are travel sized.  It's perfect if you don't want to splurge and buy the full size products and then find that you hate the products!

The clinique lady was very helpful!  As I said before I have a very dry nose and it gets flaky ( TMI ), but since using this my nose has been normal. No flaking, nothing! I don't know whether if it's the 3 products working together that makes this work, or that it's just the yellow moisturiser.
However, I'm so happy that my nose has finally cleared. I can put foundation on my nose now with out making it look gross!
The kit retails at £20, which is great if you are on the hunt for new skincare.  I'm skin type 1. There are 4 skin types ranging from 1 -very dry and 4 - very oily. I recommend that you go for a skin consultation because you don't want to guess when buying something like this. £20 is still a lot of money!
The problem that I have now is that I want to buy the full size products, which I think will cost me about £70 ! Ouch...

If you are interested, click here to where you can buy the kit and the full size products :)

By the way I'm also on twitter, so if you'd like to follow me it's @Serennublogs

An Eyeshadow Combination from the Naked 2 Palette!

Although I love my maybelline colour tattoo in On and on Bronze, I love this palette too!
It has a perfect combination of cool and warm colours and you can create numerous looks with this palette.
At the moment I like wearing verve on my eyelid, pistol in the crease and bootycall on my brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes.  I think this looks really good if you are wearing something purple!
Pistol  and verve

Bootycall (in the middle)
This is the result!
I've decided that UrbanDecay is the best brand for eyeshadows.  People may disagree, but the pigmentation of these eyeshadows are great.  This is a picture of me wearing the eyeshadow combo 8 hours after putting it on!
Although the Naked palette is not cheap at £36 you do get 12 eyeshadows so that works out as £3 per eyeshadow!
You can buy this palette at an UrbanDecay counter or online here: http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Urban+Decay+Naked+Palette+2/164653947,default,pd.html

The Body Shop's Strawberry Shower Gel

This product  brightens my day every time I use it. The Body Shop is one of my favourite shops and I love their lip balms, but today I am going to talk about my current favourite - the strawberry shower gel.
I think it's safe to say that this is my holy grail product! The smell is just amazing, I recommend that you smell this shower gel because it's divine. My favourite 'flavour' out of the whole range is strawberry shop (it might change!)
Just to prove that I'm not harping on about something I haven't tried here is my current bottle!
It does the job with added bonus of smelling awesome.  If you don't like strawberry or berry/fruity scents, obviously you won't like this, but if you are looking for a new shower gel, I recommend this one.
250ml = £4. You can't go wrong really.  They have smaller bottles and I'm sure they used to have bigger bottles but I couldn't find any online...
Also if you sign up to receive emails from the body shop they offer LOADS of great deals!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and on Bronze/Bad to the Bronze

Hi all,

Today I want to share my favourite cream eyeshadow with you!

It's a very pigmented, warm bronze colour that if very flattering.  You can wear a little or a lot of the eyeshadow and both effects are beautiful.  Some people use it as an eyeshadow base but it's a pigmented enough to be an eyeshadow on it's own.

You can see how much I've used.  I think this eye product is one of my favourites because it's easy to apply and it's a quick if you're in a rush and don't have time to rush.
I also own the shade Eternal Gold which is nice but I prefer this colour.  I'm happy to say there are more colours coming out in the UK because the US seem to get a huge colour range compared to us! I hope they release a nude, but at the moment I'm eyeing the shade "Light in Purple".
At £5 each, I don't think you can go wrong, some people have complained that it dries out quickly. I've had mine for 7 months and it's still going strong.  If yours is dry I recommend turning it upside down so that the moisture can come through from the bottom!

Have a nice day!

My Top 5 Favourite Nail Polishes!

I hope you're all having a great Mother's Day! These are my favourite nail polishes at the moment.
( Sorry for the low quality - I'm a newbie!)

The first I'd like to talk about is Models Own nail polish in Champagne.

It's a rose gold/champagne colour that looks beautiful on the nails. I believe some gold nail polishes can look tacky, but this one is perfect :) Models Own nail polishes are £5 each, but at the moment they are 2 for £8! ( I want to get Indian Ocean next!!!)

(awful quality... I know)

This is a mini version of OPI's 'I'm not really a waitress'.  It's deep red nail polish with tiny bits of glitter in it - the perfect red nail polish in my opinion.  Although OPI is not cheap, I would recommend trying the brand because the lasting power of the nail polish is great! ( use base coat and topcoat - it makes your nail polish last longer)  on lenawhite.com they are £11.50, but I believe you can buy OPI in John Lewis.

Yes I own a Butter London nail polish... I still can't believe it!  I've always wanted a nail polish from this brand but the price tag always put me off! I own "Lady Muck" and it's a gorgeous icy blue.  I love this nail polish even more because it was 70% off in Debenhams at the time! ( I thought it was a joke)  Butter London nail polishes are £15 each.

It looks like a black nail polish, but it's a very dark purple. Its OPI's Linkin Park After Dark - one of their most popular nail polishes! I always seem to gravitate towards this nail polish when I can't be bothered to think about what colour I want to paint my nails. (It makes sense to me!)  I think I can say this is my FAVOURITE nail polish.

This is Rimmel London's Disco Ball!  I love this nail polish because it's so versatile. It's a multicoloured glitter nail polish that you can wear on it's own or as a topcoat on another nail polishes.  I recommend pairing this with a dark colour such as OPI's Linkin Park After Dark - it's beautiful.
At £2.99 it's one of the best nail polishes I've bought.( I've nearly finished the bottle! )
